Toru Mizusaki

Former clarinetist of the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra, President and Concertmaster of the NPO Kyushu Wind Ensemble
Mizusaki was born in Fukuoka in 1952. He started playing the clarinet at the age of 16 and enrolled in the Tokyo University of the Arts. At the age of 19 he joined the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra, becoming a resident member at the age of 25. In addition to founding the Fukuoka Clarinetist Group, the Nishi Ward Citizens' Wind Orchestra, and the Nishi Ward Philharmonic Orchestra, he also presides over Kyushu's first professional wind orchestra, the Kyushu Wind Ensemble. There is much anticipation over his future activities. Mizusaki also devotes himself to training and workshops etc. for brass bands and orchestras, as well as to the development of both amateurs and the next generation of musicians. Mizusaki's leadership skills have been highly regarded. Currently, he is the representative of the Kyushu Wind Ensemble and the director of the Fukuoka Clarinetist Group. Mizusaki is the Musical Director of the Nishi Ward Philharmonic Orchestra and the Nishi Ward Citizens' Wind Orchestra.
