Yusuke Noda

Noda was born in Oita Prefecture in 1964. He studied clarinet under Seiji Yokogawa from the age of 16. After graduating from high school, he moved to France, where he studied at the Municipal Conservatory Du 10e District Hector Berlioz and the Versailles Regional Conservatory before graduating from the Paris Conservatory with first prize. Noda studied under Claude Desurmont, André Boutard, and Guy Deplus, and studied chamber music with Pierre-Yves Artaud. He performed Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time in front of the composer himself at a school concert. Noda hosted a chamber music concert series at the Maison du Japon of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris. After returning to Japan, he held a recital in Tokyo. He has performed concertos with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, New Philharmonic Chiba, Gunma Symphony Orchestra, Gunma Baroque Orchestra, and amateur orchestras from various regions. As a music ambassador for the Japan Foundation, he has performed in four Latin American countries, in addition to participating in music festivals in Thailand and Hong Kong. In Japan, he has participated in events including the Yufuin Music Festival, Kusatsu International Music Festival, Miyazaki International Music Festival. Noda has also appeared in the NHK-FM recital. He was selected for the 6th Japan Wind and Percussion Competition, and 3rd place at the 3rd Japan Clarinet Competition. From 2003 to 2022, he was the principal clarinetist of the Gunma Symphony Orchestra. He was a judge at the Japan Music Competition Clarinet Division, Akiyoshidai Competition, Japan Clarinet Competition, and the 6th Jacques Lancelot International Clarinet Competition. Currently, he is a professor at Tokyo College of Music, and a lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts, Showa University of Music, and Toho Gakuen University. Noda is the executive director of the Japan Clarinet Association, and a contract instructor for Buffet Crampon.
