Kaori Fujii
Klarinette
Member of the Iris Clarinet Quartet and the Wind Ensemble GAJA.
After graduating from Nagoya University of the Arts with a degree in instrumental music, Fujii went to Belgium to study abroad, completing her studies at the Royal Conservatory Antwerp. While a student, she participated in performances as a trainee with the Belgian National Radio Symphony Orchestra. She has also formed the Basset Horn Trio, which performed concerts in Belgium as well as in England. Since returning to Japan, Fujii has been active largely in the Tokai region, as a clarinettist and bass clarinettist in professional wind bands and orchestras, as well as in solo and chamber music performances, while also teaching younger students. She released a CD in 2010 with the Iris Clarinet Quartet. In 2015 and 2018, she gave bass clarinet recitals to great acclaim. Fujii studied clarinet under Masaichi Takeuchi, Atsuki Tsutsumi, and Ivo Liebert, and bass clarinet under Jan Guns. Fujii was a part-time lecturer at the Music Department of Nagoya University of the Arts from 2007-2018, and is currently a commissioned musician for the Ichinomiya Fire Department, a member of the Iris Clarinet Quartet, and the Wind Ensemble GAJA.
