Yoshio Tsutsui

Assistant Principal Player for the Kyoto City Symphony Orchestra
Tsutsui was born in Tokyo, and graduated from the Kunitachi College of Music at the top of his class. He received the Yatabe prize at university, and performed at the Yomiuri and Yamaha Newcomer Concerts. He completed a graduate course at Toho Gakuen University. So far, he has studied the clarinet under Seiji Yokokawa, Seiki Shinohe, and Yoshiaki Suzuki, and studied chamber music under Kazuki Fujii, and the late Miyoko Yamane-Goldberg. Tsutsui won an award at the 16th Japan Woodwind Competition, where he also received the Cosmos Prize (audience award). He won 2nd place at the 21st Japan Wind and Percussion Competition, and was a finalist at the clarinet category of the “Marco Fiorindo” International Competition" in Turin.
