Maria Del Mar Rábago

Maria del Mar Rábago was born in Mar del Plata, Argentina, where she started her clarinet studies at the Conservatory Luis Gianneo. She continued her education in Buenos Aires under Prof. Mariano Rey and furthered her training at the Orchestral Academy of OSESP in São Paulo, Brazil, studying with Prof. Ovanir Buosi.
Maria completed her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in orchestral specialization at the Haute École de Musique in Geneva, Switzerland, studying under Prof. Romain Guyot. She was also a member of the Orchestral Academy at the Opernhaus Zurich, where she performed alongside internationally renowned conductors and singers.
Maria is the first-prize winner of the Latin American Clarinet Competition in Brasília, Brazil, and the second-prize winner at the Riddes Wind Competition in Switzerland. Throughout her career, she has performed with various orchestras across Latin America and Europe, including the Orquesta de las Américas, Orchestre Victor Hugo (France), Orchestre Symphonic Biel/Bienne Soleure, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, and Philharmonia Zurich (Switzerland), among others.
Maria is also a member of Mar Saláo, a clarinet and bass clarinet duo alongside Sebastián Tozzola, the principal bass clarinetist of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. The duo specializes in Argentine and Latin American music. Additionally, Maria founded the Mar del Plata Clarinetists' Meeting, an annual educational project held in a different Argentine city each year, uniting students and teachers from both classical and popular music traditions. Since 2020, she has served as Co-Soloist of the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen in Belgium.
