Virtuose
The Virtuose model is characterized by its acoustic logic and particularly studied ergonomics. Cutting the upper body after the right hand is a technological challenge that allows for optimal sound homogeneity. Cutting the lower body after the bell key allows you to swap and personalize your instrument by selecting the best bell in our different variations of shapes and wood species.
Creativity
The Virtuose oboe is the product of 190 years of Buffet Crampon expertise and a constant search for innovation. Inspired by an 1890 Buffet Crampon oboe with a 35-centimeter long upper body, the Virtuoso is an exceptional instrument that combines the best of tradition and technology. Our craftspeople and engineers have worked with the best soloists to completely redesign the inner bore and the position and diameter of the holes, giving the musician the best of Buffet Crampon oboe acoustics and intonation. With its elegant, lilting timbre, the instrument blends harmoniously with the sound of the orchestra.
The unique length of the upper body is designed to ensure the continuity of the breath through the instrument. The creation of this delicate piece requires an expert hand and perfect knowledge of the wood, specially treated beforehand and reinforced with Green linE inserts to reduce the risk of splitting. The result: a perfectly homogeneous oboe from the highest note to the lowest, as well as remarkable fluidity of play.
Ergonomics
By working to listen to the oboists, our key makers and engineers have optimized the ergonomics of the keywork. Each key was developed by hand so that the musician’s fingers can slide smoothly and instantly find contact. Magnets crimped into the mechanism provide the perfect balance between reliability, responsiveness and aesthetics of the keywork.
