Merve Nuvasil Türkmen is a renowned Turkish clarinetist, recognized as a Turkey artist for global brands Vandoren, BG France, and Beaumont Music. She began her musical journey at Trakya University State Conservatory in 1997 and continued at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory, earning her master’s degree in 2010.
In 2000, she won the Young Musician of the Year Competition by the Mimar Sinan Rotary Club and later secured first prize at the IV International Sliven Music Festival Chamber Music Competition in 2011. She has collaborated with prestigious orchestras, including the Bursa Regional State Symphony Orchestra, Cemal Reşit Rey Symphony Orchestra, Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, and Çukurova State Symphony Orchestra.
An active chamber musician, Türkmen has been a founding member of the Ametist Clarinet Quintet (since 2005), Istanbul Clarinet Choir (since 2010), Istanbul Contemporary Music Ensemble (since 2011), and Silva Quartet (since 2010), performing extensively both in Turkey and internationally.
Türkmen's contributions to the International Clarinet Festival have been significant. She performed as a soloist in 2012 alongside clarinetist Cihangir Nuvasil with the Trakya Symphony Orchestra and presented seminars and workshops on clarinet performance in Turkish and Western music. Notable appearances include solo performances with the Toisad Symphony Orchestra in 2014 and the Women's Philharmonic Orchestra in 2021.
Her teaching roles have included Istanbul Technical University (2007-2008), Private Şişli Terakki Schools (2011-2019), Marmara University Atatürk Faculty of Education (2020-2021), and Istanbul Avni Akyol Fine Arts High School (2020-2023). Additionally, she served as art consultant and program coordinator at the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall between 2013-2014.
Türkmen has been pursuing her doctorate at Yıldız Technical University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts since 2022. From 2010 to 2024, she performed with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Chamber Music Ensemble, and in 2024, she joined the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet Orchestra. Currently, she serves as a clarinetist in the İzmir State Symphony Orchestra.
